Indy Give! is extended through January 3, 2021! If you’re still looking for a great cause to give back to before the end of 2020, consider a donation to The Arc Pikes Peak Region! Your gift will help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), like Bill, to receive the advocacy they need, while learning life skills that will help them to be an active part of their communities!
Bill, a 2020 recipient of The Arc PPR’s Achiever of the Year Award, an annual award given to people with I/DD for their outstanding achievements, and an avid self-advocate, says,
I’ve spent most of my life trying to go above and beyond my disabilities; that is something that sometimes people with disabilities aren’t expected to do. I not only went to college, but I earned a Bachelor of Science at what is now California State University, East Bay. I’ve also done the national anthem at professional sporting events, like the Colorado Springs Switchbacks Soccer team. In the last two years, I’ve become a children’s author… That is my work as a self-advocate – don’t let naysayers slow you down. Don’t let bullies discourage you.
All Indy Give! proceeds will benefit our Building for Change campus, an inclusive personal development center for people with I/DD, their families, caregivers, professionals, and the community.
