Colorado Premiere of Learning to Drive

This year, we’re rolling out the red carpets for the Hollywood-style Colorado Premiere of the film
Learning to Drive, starring Colorado’s own Connor Long, an upcoming actor who has Down syndrome, on Tuesday, February 28, at Stargazers Theatre and Event Center. Connor is known for his outstanding performance in the film Menschen, which garnered him a nomination for a 2016 Young Artist Award for best performance in a short film.

Cocktail hour with heavy appetizers will begin at 6:00 p.m. Not only will Learning to Drive be shown for the first time in Colorado, but you will also have the opportunity to meet Director R.E. Stevens and Actor Connor Long! You can watch the movie trailer below, or click here.

Tickets are $35 per person, and this event will feature an opportunity to donate to Building for Change. Purchase tickets at: thearcpprlearningtodrive.eventbrite.com

ABOUT THE FILM: Learning to Drive, directed by Roderick E. Stevens, II, and starring Actor Connor Long, is Michael’s story! Michael’s always wanted to drive a car, just like his momma and his brother, Red… and just like Marcia on The Brady Bunch; the problem is he has Down syndrome. On a road trip to scatter their recently deceased mother’s ashes at the Grand Canyon, Michael is determined to convince his preoccupied brother, Red, to teach him how to drive! In a dramatic and humorous turn, Michael takes it upon himself to prove his resolve, forcing Red to face his own fears, let go and just be Michael’s brother. Learn more: learningtodrive-movie.com

The evening will open with the film LONELY HIGHWAY, by local filmmaker and recent Rampart High School graduate, Andy Kwiatkowski (pictured right). LONELY HIGHWAY is an intimate portrayal of family love and support as his parents and sister come to terms with the unique challenges of and resilience necessary to be supportive of a family member on the autism spectrum.

Kwiatkowski, 18, is a student at the Youth Documentary Academy and is currently enrolled at UCCS.
